My Story

I’m running my first half marathon to support the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS)—a charity that has already made an incredible difference to my family.

In 2023, my twins Hamish and Mabel were born with a hearing loss. As a hearing parent, learning this news raises so many questions: What does a moderate hearing loss mean? What will they hear with their hearing aids? What challenges will they face in life? Will they be able to enjoy music?

These questions can feel overwhelming, but early on, we discovered the NDCS—a lifeline for families like ours. They’ve been there to reassure us, guide us, and help us understand how to navigate a world we knew little about.

The NDCS doesn’t just support parents—they work tirelessly to create a world where deaf children can thrive. They provide critical resources, advocacy, and support, helping children with hearing loss unlock their full potential. Last year alone, the NDCS supported over 6,000 families through life-changing guidance and launched vital campaigns to break down barriers for deaf children in education and society.

This is why I’m running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on behalf of NDCS. It’s my first half marathon, and every step I take will be for my twins and the thousands of children like them who deserve the brightest possible future.

My goal is to raise £350. Will you help me get there?

Your support can make a huge difference. Here’s what your donation could do:

  • £10 could help NDCS provide a free resource guide for a family coming to terms with a hearing loss diagnosis.
  • £25 could help fund their helpline, which provides life-changing advice to parents and young people.
  • £50 could contribute to campaigns that fight for equal opportunities for deaf children in schools and beyond.

Every pound matters. Please donate today to help deaf children like Hamish and Mabel get the best possible start in life. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Thank you so much for your generosity!
